    Unhappy Imovie
    Hello all.
I am new to Mac and have a Macbook Pro.
I am trying to do my first video but received the following error code whilst trying to finalise the project.
"Unable to prepare project for publishing. The project could not be prepared for publishing because an error occurred (-49)"
    Can anyone help please.

    Specs:
PPC Mini, 10.4.11. Intel Mini, 10.6.8. MacBook Pro, 10.10.5. iPhone 3GS.
Firstly, you don't have to finalise a Project. All that does is make copies of your Project at every size/resolution that it can support, and make them available to other Applications via the Media Browser. If you don't need this, then just Share>EXport Movie at the size you want.

Second, how much space have you got left on your hard drive? The error maybe associated with lack of space.

    Thanks MightyGem for your reply.
I did as you said, ie "Share etc" and have succeeded in copying the video to my "Public Folder" on my Seagate backup drive.
Now to tackle other videos clips that have been sitting on my drive.
I assume that it is best to delete the video from Imovie in order to save space on the hard drive once they have been copied to the backup drive?

If you won't need them anymore, yes. Also the associated Events, which, if you haven't used all of the footage, will be taking up more room that the Project.
