    Question AVCHD to iMovie '09
I bought a Panasonic HC-V700 to take HD video of our 8-month-old. I originally had it set to HA1920 which records at 1080/60i. After I filled up the memory card during Christmas, I was disappointed in the fact that I could only import one file named Private. When clicking on Private, a window opens containing all the clips, but I can't do anything with them (extract them, separate them, etc.). Also, I can't drag the file (or the clips) into iMovie '09.

Is the problem iMovie '09 or the type of file the camcorder creates? I know when recording in iFrame, I can import the clips individually into iPhoto, which I like, but they aren't of the same quality as the HA1920 files.

    Thanks for the help!

    Specs:
PPC Mini, 10.4.11. Intel Mini, 10.6.8. MacBook Pro, 10.10.5. iPhone 3GS.
In Apple's list of supported camcorders for iMovie09, yours isn't listed.
    iMovie '09: Camcorder Support

It is listed for iMovie11, but the 1080/60 format is not supported.
Apple - iLife '11 Help - iMovie '11 Supported Cameras

In this article, it states that for iMovie09, you set the camcorder format to AVCHD/iFrame.

Often times the problem with AVCHD files and iMovie compatibility is the method of import. Do not select the folder and drill through the file structure...You have to select import from within iMovie and let iMovie locate and import the files...I have a Panny zs3 that uses AVCHD and works fine as long as I go through the steps above....

Thanks for the info. I'll try importing through the menu.

Do you plug the camera into the computer via USB, or do you stick the memory card into the card reader?
