Hi there.

So basically i have a 1.05GB FLV video file (33mins of video). I tried putting it onto exposure room, but did not work, i think it was too big.

So my question is, does anyone know how to make a FLV video file smaller in size without jeopardising the quality?

Please any help will be great. This was a uni project that i wish to show to future employers if i can upload it, thanks.

if you want to make it smaller you lose quality. theres no avoiding it.

I don't mean to sound cynical, but 33 minutes of video? To show employers?

That had better be the most mesmerizing 33 minutes since Avatar if you expect to hold a potential employer's attention for that long. These days, you'd be lucky to get them to actually watch 10 minutes.

Obviously I don't know your situation so perhaps I'm just not imagining a circumstance where 33 minutes would be fine -- but I've had to watch video reels from cinematographers and directors and the like before for hiring purposes, and I can't imagine myself spending the time to watch something that long for each candidate.

PS. FLV will not be able to be watched properly on any mobile device -- like those 25 million iPads and 175 million other iOS devices, but also however many million Androids, Symbians, WP7s and everything else. There's no such thing as Flash that runs well on mobile devices. So I'd definitely rethink the FLV idea.

Its not a showreel or anything like that. It is a documentary, and I need to put it online somewhere so those involved are able to view it and download a copy (too big for email).
I am not looking for it to go on phones, strictly online. If you know of any way to limit the size please, it would help a lot.

Thanks for clarifying the situation. I would suggest looking into converting the film into MP4, which (depending on what program you use to do the conversion) should provide you with finer control over bitrates (which should help A LOT), as well as streaming. Any modern computer can view MP4 videos no problem.
