I NEED HELP THIS IS DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!!!

I want to convert video ts folder (containing several .bup, .ifo, and .vob video ts files) to mpeg or mp4s to be played on my ipod, and ipad. I have tried several different programs and i just cant figure it out, is there someone who could walk me through it using some sort of freeware program?
