What camcorder works well with a PowerPC G5 Mac?

I'm looking into being a filmmaker and having purchased a Mac since I feel it's better for video, I am now without at the moment a suitable camera to work with the mac. The Sony DCR-TRV19 that I have doesn't work through either the USB or Firewire port on my Mac (although it works on the PC on USB) and I'm looking to get a new one that will work with the Mac.
What would some of you recommend for a middle-of-the-road price with good quality video?

What do you call middle of the road? Also are you looking for SD or HD cameras? If you're looking for an HD camcorder, if it's AVCHD you'll have to suffer thru long conversions thru third party software before using it in your video editor (PPC Macs don't support AVCHD footage in any of Apples editors), if it's tape based HD I'm pretty sure you're ok as long as it's firewire and not USB for capturing footage..My Macs: Late 2013 rMBP w/ 750m; Mac mini G4, 1.25 GHz, 512m ram (server); Late 2011 11" MBA, 1.8GHz i7, 4Gig Ram, 256Gig SSD, HD3000; Powerbook 12" G4 1.33GHz running Debian as a server; Apple TV (1080p version)
