Question Transferring Video to my MacBook
I have a Sony Digital Handycam - (DCR-TRV350) and am trying to transfer video recorded on the tape to my MacBook. The problem, however, is that the MacBook doesn't have a firewire port. I tried to connect Handycam using the USB cable and got nothing from my computer.

    Any help would be GREAT!

    Thanks!

Apple has never supported tape cameras via the USB port. Since you Mac does not have firewire, you'll have to look at using the analog ports and some hardware to get the video into the Mac. Search the forum for analog conversion. I've used my Elgato TV Hybrid a few times with success.

    Thanks xstep,
I purchased Elgato Video Capture and it seems to work just fine. The quality isn't so great, but it may be the video camera I'm using. Next step is to try another camera.

    Either way, the hardware worked.

    Also investigate any settings.

Remember though, the camera is outputting an analog signal which will lose quality and the conversion process will never be perfect.

You could always sell your non-Firewire Macbook and get one with Firewire.
