    It kinda depends on what model iMac you're referring to, the G5 or the Intel based one....

    Even with the Intel based ones it depends on which model he has. The earlier models had Mini DVI ports whereas the new ones have mini DisplayPort.

    wilf, you need to tell us exactly what model Mac you have before we can tell you exactly what cables you need. Also, you should also tell us what connectors are available on your TV, or perhaps just give us the TV model and we'll try to figure it out. Looks for ports like VGA, DVI, or HDMI for video and see if a 3.5mm jack is available for audio.

    in most cases - yes, a video cable and an audio cable
