• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Hey everyone!

I'm sorry if this has been done before, but I did a quick search and couldn't find anything.

I'm used to using Windows and so I've made movies with Windows Movie Maker and Ulead Video Studio. Both of these are pretty good programs, but it was really the Windows system that used to let me down. It crashed all the time and I just got fed up with it.

So I bought an iMac in January this year. I always knew they were better because my brother has one! I tried out an old version of iMovie and it worked really nicely.

My problem is this. My iMac comes with iMovie 8, which is not good at all. I hate the lack of timeline and just find the whole thing terrible - a quick Google search reveals that I'm not alone in this!! Anyways, I also got Final Cut Express but I find it incredibly difficult to use. I just can't seem to get used to it.

So my question is this! As someone new to Mac systems and who can't work a complicated program like Final Cut Express (please don't tell me to bear with it and try harder, cos I just can't do it) what would you recommend I use? Something like Ulead Video Studio would be nice.

Thanks!

You can take a look at this: Norrkross Movie

There are some others out there.

Personally, I can't comment on norrkross or other editors - to me the best editors are packages like FCE, FCP and Adobe Premiere - all of which fall into your too complicated category (no disrespect meant - these tools offer a lot of power but they are definitely not for everyone)

I only happen to have read a post recently where that product was mentioned and I remembered it so I figured I'd throw it up here for ya :)

There are plenty of online video tutorials for Final Cut. Those may get you through the initial learning curve.

Premiere would fall into the same category as Final Cut I think in terms of complexity...
