I'm not set up yet - got some software issues to solve, but this occurred to me as a question if I have to buy a new DVD recorder.

Can one burn HD video (captured from HD camcorder, run through whatever editing software) to a regular DVD or must it be a Blu-ray? Not talking about length as I realize the greater amount of data will take more space, but just the quality level possibly with a shorter run time.

Sure, you can burn HD Video to a blank DVD in a number of different formats, but keep in mind that set-top DVD players are not capable of playing in HD resolutions. So, if you burn it onto a DVD Video disc, it will need to be converted down to standard DVD resolutions.
Liquid and computers don't mix. It might seem simple, but we see an incredible amount of people post here about spills. Keep drinks and other liquids away from your expensive electronics!

Yes, good point. The idea would be to just be able to put the hd video on a disc to save for future use/playing on an updated player, etc. When I get my system/software issues sorted out, I'd want to put edited footage on a disc. But that's in the future. Thanks for the info and the tip. It's a temporary measure, now.
