    Angry Install fresh os x
Is there any way to create a bootable os x installation disk without access to a working os x? My older MacBook pro (2010 or 2011 I believe) has something seriously corrupted so that I cannot access the normal OS. It gets to the sign in screen and completely locks up. When I boot into recovery mode, I was able to wipe the volume, so I proceeded to attempt to reinstall os x. However, it keeps showing the message "this item is temporarily unavailable". I am using to original iCloud account associated with the mac. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

G'day and welcome to the forums.

In a word no. Best help is to tell us what operating system you are/were using. Cannot even guess what seriously corrupted means, but the drive may well have failed.
Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!

If your Macbook is on the list (in the link below) and has the updated EFI Firmware ROM installed, then you might be able to perform an online Internet update.

Also depending on what OS version is installed...and as long as the HD is not may be able to reinstall the OS via the Recovery Partition.
