    iPod for car
I have just changed my car for a new KIA Rio 2. On my old KIA Rio I could play my music CDs on its player. However, this new car does not come with a CD player which makes me rather unhappy. It occurred to me that I could transfer all my CDs, which are on my iMac to an iPod and plug that into the USB socket in the car. I have no experience of iPods so my question is that a possibility? I would like to transfer about 30 CDs. I realise that Apple does not make iPods now but there a re many on the market. Which iPod should I choose to have?

Or an iPhone if you use one. Phone can also play via Bluetooth if car equipped. Most new cars have dispensed with CD players.

If the shoe fits, buy it in every colour.

Thanks Sue. I don't use smart phones as I can't handle small screens. I prefer to use an iPad and a conventional large button phone.

My sister's KIA has something callled Jukebox which is internal memory and we loaded up lots of music there. It likes simple .mp3 files rather than Apple extension files (m4 types). Check out your car manual to see if you have this feature. Otherwise iPhone or iPod works great, but for a large number of files it takes some time to 'load' each time. Even a USB stick works but it's hard to find the music you want. But USB is good for specific audio books or podcasts.

iPad should work too! (late addition edit)

@ Jeremy - you've already received some great replies - I just wanted to support the Bluetooth option suggested above - assume your new car's audio system supports that wireless technology (used by many for 'hands off' answering telephone calls) - but for myself, we have a 2014 Camry w/ BT; also own an old iPod w/ about 100 hrs of MP3 music installed, so quite easy to simply 'pair' the 2 devices; the 'on-screen' of the car's sound system sees the iPod controls and allows selections, volume changes, etc. Of course, if their is a mini-stereo jack on your car's system, then a wired connection would be another choice. In response to your initial request about an iPod... Best Buy and many other stores still have a stock of the iPod Nano and shuffle available for sale. You might want to grab hold of a Nano or several shuffles before they sell out.

Thanks DianaVan. I looked at the manual of my KIA Rio and doesn't have the Jukebox you mention. I tried a USB memory stick and that didn't work either. I shall get myself an iPod and try that.
