itunes won`t open

I have had my Power G4 since 2002 and rely on itunes for my music. Recently, I click on itunes and the music note bounces but nothing happens. itunes won't open. I don't know if something has been corrupted or what. I have tried uninstalling it and reinstalling and the same problem exists. I really don't want to do a system reinstall if I don't have to. Also, Quicktime won't open either.

Any ideas? Not having itunes, is like not having a home.

If this issue has already been addressed, please point me in the right direction.

Force iTunes to create a new library file my moving the 'iTunes library.xml' and 'iTunes Library' files out of your iTunes folder onto the desktop.

If that doesn't work, move them back and then try:
Deleting the plist files associated with iTunes: Search in spotlight for: "iTunes plist" and delete all results that appear that end with .plist.
