using itunes with ipod files

I just got my first ipod, a 60gb video.
I transfered all of my music and now when i open itunes with the ipod plugged in i can see all my music but it is grayed out and i am unable to listen to any of it.

Can someone help?

What is on your iPod is an exact replica of what is on your computer, so you can just play the songs from your library. But if you still want to play songs from your iPod, just go to the menu bar, Prefs, iPod (tab), then you'll want to choose something like Manually Manage songs on iPod. But this will mean that you have to manually update songs to your iPod instead of it syncing up automatically.
