Completely off the wall topic but, am I the only one that is anal enough to cringe when people refer to the iPod Touch as the iTouch? I know its dumb and a very simple mistake because of apple's one word name convention for music players, i.e. iPod, but it bugs the heck out of me, your thoughts?

I know lots of People who say "iTouch". I forgive them, and choose not to start a hate-thread about them. Is it that big of a deal? Some people say Potato, some say Potato. I know there spelled the same, but it sounds different. xD

It's an abbreviation, plain and simple. It's analogous to calling a Macintosh a Mac.

There's no such thing as a "Mac" either, but we use that abbreviation all the time.

And so does Apple. It is an acceptable substitute for "Macintosh".

"iTouch", on the other hand, is not used by Apple.
If it were really abbreviated, then simply "Touch" would be more appropriate.

"iTouch" is along the lines of "BlackBook" and not really an abbreviation at all, but rather a corruption of the proper name.

Ah yes, in order to use a nickname or abbreviation, it must first be blessed by Apple. Sorry, my bad ;)

I just chalk it up to people who either know nothing about technology or are new to Apple products and are so excited they think they're trying to be cool by using the "lingo" when in reality they just butcher it like the way they butcher half the other Apple names at first trying to be cute. :)

My new Apple Power spec PC came with a 500 gig of memory and 4 gigs of hard drives, I cant wait to start building spaces on the interweb. it also has that cordless Wii network that will be cool to play with if I can find the controller.

Well, Apple doesn't sell Macintosh mini or Macintosh Pro machines do they? In fact you cannot use http://www.apple.com/macintosh to find the Macintosh computers that Apple sells.

Here are the valid links for their Macs. The bonus is that this forum fills in text for the raw URLs I entered. Apple sure uses Mac a great deal in the computer names.

Apple - Mac Pro
Apple - Mac mini
Apple - MacBook
Apple - MacBook Pro
Apple - MacBook Air

They also no longer sell the Macintosh OS! :Smirk:

OK, type Macintosh in the Help of the Finder and you'll find mentions of the Macintosh computers.

As for iTouch, I don't really care as long as I know what a person is talking about. But, I do understand the issue here. Mine is when people say the bought a MAC from the Mac company. The upper case is wrong, and it is Apple Inc. or just Apple. You'd think people would know what high profile company name created their new fancy computer.

By the way, one could say, 'I just bought a Mac from the Mac Store'. ;)

P.S. This was a fun and silly distraction. :D

I normally go up to those people and go
"Whats an iPod Nano called?"
"A nano....?"
"Not an iNano?"
"...no..."
-walk away.
