Lets say a person was to install 3rd party applications on to their apple iPhone. At one point they would wish to upgrade their firmware to 1.1.1 without bricking their phone. How would they do so?

Would a simple reset/restore do the trick?

How would a person go about completely erasing it from their iPhone?

Steps would be nice as-well.

Yes, a simple restore is all that is needed to upgrade to 1.1.1 without the worry of bricking it.

Just be sure to restore the device using the 1.02 firmware ;P

I assume you have the installer.app for installing applications, you can uninstall programs from the "Uninstall" tab of the installer program. And use iNdependence to delete the installer.app from your phone

Or simply use iNdependence to delete any applications one by one.

Another option is to use fugu to connect to your iphone and delete apps.

He doesn't want to remove individual apps, he wants to remove all third-party apps so that his phone won't brick when updating to the 1.1.1 firmware. Only a restore will allow for that.

Question. why would you want to upgrade to 1.1.1?

When I did so it removed all my 3rd party apps for me and restored the phone to a factory condition. No bricking. I then ended up reverting my phone back to the 1.0.2 after a day or 2 of missing my apps. I won't upgrade again till they have 1.1.1 hacked.

I am getting a replacement iPhone as I am having battery issues and my iPhone is not even 2 weeks old. I just purchased my first one and I didn't know what to expect with the battery untill I asked many people what it should be like and I checked on Apple.com to see what they said and mine will only last 5 hours with heavy use and sitting in my pocket for 7 hours only using it for maybe 2-3 mins. I was told I should be able to keep it for maybe 24 hours with video+calls+ipod usage.

On a 45 min ride home listening to my ipod for 25 mins of the time, my battery goes down 1/5. I lock the phone everytime I switch songs and I dont even turn on the screen to change it as I just double click on the microphone attached to the headphones(quite nice if I do say so myself).

So basicly..upgrading so it looks as if I didn't have 3rd party apps.

I did a reset but it keeps saying error when I try to reset it back to 1.0.2 because I don't want to restore and upgrade. Can I not restore to the same firmware?

If i restore and upgrade to 1.1.1. my phone won't be bricked will it? Please I need to know soon.

Sorry for Another Topic but Urgent

Okay I restored to 1.1.1 with no problems finaly. Anyways I need to know if restoring removes all traces of 3rd party software so when I send my phone to apple for repairs they will not see any.

Isn't there an application that lets me look whats in my iPhone and maybe be able to see hidden files?
