    Iphone 4 not seeing networks
    Hi

My Iphone 4 is not seeing any local wifi networks. iPod and iPad in the same room can see loads of them. It is working on 3G. Any ideas please?

    regards

Does it not see the Wifi networks in your home or anywhere at all? Let's try the usual remedies, power-cycle, hard reset (hold home and power button down), turn WiFi off and on. If none of those do anything, and the problem is present across multiple WiFi locations, then it might be an antenna problem. A replacement antenna is available for $14.99 and the instructions here tell you how to do the change.

Thanks for this, I have tried all the tricks. The iPad sat next to it can see five networks but the phone sees none. I will look into the antenna option

An iPhone 4 is ancient. Might be a good time to replace it with a later model rather than try repairing it.

My iPhone 4 is not seeing any local wifi networks….
… I have tried all the tricks.

Have you tried a web search on your subject and checked out some of the solutions???
    i.e.:

PS: Some solutions aren't model specific so don't bypass them.

I do not believe this, the freezer trick worked first time . Does anybody know why? I now have two iPhones. Thanks for the help.

    I do not believe this,

Which "bizarre freezer option" did you try and use successfully???

PS: It almost sounds like the old Mac Classic trick of putting it in a freezer overnight and then use a smack on its side with a rubber mallet!!! It often worked as well.

PPS: The rubber mallet smack was to overcome "stiction" on the old spinner HDs.

I did a lot of searching and reading and the issue is the Wifi chip solder joints get loose for some reason. Freezing it or heating it up seems to make it reconnect but it will not last. Solder joints on that Wifi Chip need to be Reflowed which for the average person is really not possible to do. Sort of the same issue that happened on the older Xbox models.

The trick is to turn wifi off then put the phone in the freezer for 15 minutes. Dennis says it is a temporary fix, will wait and see.

Boy, sure lots of hits for 'reflow iPhone 4' and how-tos if it fails:

It's hard to break something that's already broken and not working.
