Hi folks

I'm looking to use an iPad mini as a sat nav (I'm a HGV driver so no problems with obscuring my vision).

Do all versions come with GPS or is it just the cellular/3G versions?

Thanks
Chalky

You'll need a cellular version for best Sat Nav results plus a GPS application which you can purchase from the iTunes store. Be careful which GPS app you buy since most do not provide voice and turn by turn unless you pay for the add ons.

The Apple maps iOS program is free and is getting better so you might wish to see what their next version looks like before buying anything else. I use the Apple program on my iPad (Verizon cellular).

Thanks for the info.

I was looking at either tom tom or the navman app.

As I stated above, check with the iTunes store first. There are at least a dozen or so apps that you can buy. Make sure you check the reviews first to see what other folks are saying. And again, be careful because most will charge extra for turn by turn and voice.
