I just got the new IPad (3), and I find that the wireless connection is not very strong to pick up the signal in my house. I have a wireless booster that is about 7 feet away from my room and I cannot link up. I have no issues with my ipod nor my mbp. Any clue as to why? Can it be fixed with an update eventually?

Not sure what is up as I can see the neighbors WiFi with my 1st Generation iPad which is maybe 50' across the lawn from my house. Are you seeing your Wifi and just can't connect?

My iPad 2 has trouble picking up signal in some of the weak spots in my house, where all of my other devices are fine. I think it's just the nature of the beast.

Unless you live in some kind of concrete bunker or the house is over 3000 square feet, you shouldn't need a wireless booster. It seems to me you may have some issues with the placement of your wireless router (it should be up high, central and away from other wireless devices). That would be where I'd start troubleshooting.

I can see the wifi but for the booster it does not connect but when I get closer to the main wifi it connects quickly and easily.
Router is in basement above the tv (no other wireless devices there). With my mbp I have no issues with getting a connection inside or outside my house, same goes for my ipod.
My husband wanted the booster as his ipod would knock out when he was upstairs while mine does not.

The basement is absolutely the worst place in a typical home for a router - between the concrete walls, joists and subfoldering and just the fact that WiFi signals tend to be optimal when placed high, a basement is a bad choice. If it's a two-story home, it should be on the second story. This may mean moving your modem, but it will be worth the trouble.

I honestly wish that "booster" products weren't even sold, as they make things needlessly complex and are almost never necessary (unless you have a very large home - think 3000 square feet+). Now you have two high-powered radios competing on the already crowded 2.4GHz spectrum. It's just a bad idea all the way around.

I guarantee that if you move the router and turn off the booster, life will be a lot easier for you and all your wireless devices will perform better.

A basement is not a good place for a router. For one, you're surrounded by concrete and whatever else is located in the basement. Usually (remembering my home in NY) there's the heating system, electrical boxes, and other things located there. All signal robbers.

My iPad 3 picks up signals from all over - neighbors, public WiFi, and since it's the 4G model, additionally from Verizon cellular broadcasting.

Then you have some interference, try changing channels. I have no issues with wifi on my iPad 3. With a base station, and two repeaters (i live in a house with multiple brick walls, which tends to complicate my wifi placement).

I cannot bring the router upstairs as my atv is there by the tv. If it was poor set up then it shouldn't work for all my other devices. My cell, wifi, iPod, mbp, husband's computer all work on the ext (his ipod as well), it doesn't make sense only the ipad doesn't work.

I have no issues with performance from my other devices.
