I am ready to get my Ipad soon. But I can't seem to decide between the three options. I really don't want to pay for GB's that I will never use. All are reasonably within my budget, but there is no point of going 64GB, when that extra $100 could be used for apps. Here is how it breaks down:

*I don't listen to music nor do I think I will ever have a music library. I enjoy playing it, but not listening to it.

*As far as photos go I probably might put a couple hundred.

*I don't have an interest in comic books but I might put a few regular books ( maybe 5 full story books)

*As far as apps go, I want to put a lot of Apps. Mainly work related for a college student and perhaps a few HD games. I have read that some take up to 200MB for HD games.

*And when it comes to movies, I would say 6 movies max at one given time if I travel and maybe a few T.V episodes.

Most importantly, this Ipad has to last me 4 years. I won't really be able to afford buying another one a year or even three years later since I won't be working.

Figure about 1-2Gig/Movie - so worse case at 6 you would be talking 12 GB for movies alone. If you include TV then could be worse than that. That would put the 16GB probably as too little especially if you are talking about a lot of Apps.

I too like having a lot of Apps on my iPad - some Apps can be upwards of a Gig - a few of my Map apps like Tom Tom, and You need a Map are over a gig - I just looked and You need a Map is 1.83GB - because it stores map data on your iPad offline.

So if you can afford 64GB I'd recommend getting that size for the longevity you are talking about (the longer you have storage the more you fill it) But you could probably manage a 32GB and move stuff off and on.

I have a 64GB iPad and a 32GB iPhone - and the iPhone needs constant adjustment for taking data off and putting it on. I do keep music on my iPhone but I keep movies on the iPad.

Just a quick question... will you also have a computer to use as well? if so you could get away with 32gb as there are a few video streaming apps out there (assuming you have an internet connection where you are) that you could get, air video is great as it can stream things stored locally on your computer. You could also get netflix, app is free and service is 7.99 for streaming only. Just a few things to think about.

I've looked at that. However, I need this Ipad 2 for 4 years. Who knows, maybe Iwork or Pages will someday be 32GB.

I agree with this. For me even with 1 or 2 movies at a time I still have about 13gb free. The other thing you have to remember is that you can get a dropbox account which will allow you to remotely store the files you no longer use. Also, will you also have a normal computer as a complement to this? if not then you probably want a 64gb mode. Else, the 32 will serve you well.

I have the 64 GB model. I have over 28 GB of apps/games. I have 3 movies on it right now (LotR Extended) and that takes up 9 GB. I have another 8 GB in music.

It will depend on what you really need and if you want to spend a lot of time swapping out stuff from iTunes to the iPad.

Always buy the best you can afford at the time.

Assuming these are HD, and assuming 2 GB per movie and a gig per TV episode, we're talking 18-20 GB off the top. I don't think the 32 GB model will quite cut it once all else is taken into consideration.

Please verify and include the exact model/year of your Mac and OS X version number (available from "About This Mac", then "More Info" on the Apple menu).

I should say - I have 16 videos , 370 songs, 762 photos, and 517 applications. I have 3.3GB free. I like apps as you can see. Breakdown is
    1.97GB of Audio
    9.2GB of Video
    4GB of Photos
    33.9GB of Apps
6.9GB of other - this is usually stored app data which some people don't always consider. (As I said in a previous post I have a map data app and a navigation app which run ~1G or more.)

    Hi.

If money is not an issue, go gor the 64GB.
You will never actually regret (if) any substantially excessive storage, but you will regret it dearly for not having provided for more storage.

If however your budget is absolute, see to it that you DO NOT compromise with 16GB and get the 32GB.

    Without question 64 gig
You cannot upgrade the storage later as you can with a computer and everything you describe just keeps getting larger. If you plan on keeping it four years, especially so.
