iMac Sierra Wireless Hotspot to Wireless via Ethernet
I have an iMac with Sierra and tried using "preferences" "sharing" "ethernet" "wireless" and turned off firewalls of both computers, but still cannot get my iMac to work as a wireless hotspot with my other mac devices. Does anybody know how I can turn my ethernet (modem to RJ45 jack) into a wireless hotspot? Thanks

Thank You Very Much Ian. I have tried that process and when I try to connect with my MacBook pro I see my iMac, but the pro just does not connect to the hubspot. I turned off both firewalls and nothing happens so at a loss.

You have the ethernet going into the iMac, correct? Then in System Preferences > Sharing, you have Internet Sharing selected and filled the drop box for "Share your connection from", and checked the check box in "To computers using"?

Yes I have done it exactly as you described: Internet Sharing then from Ethernet to computers on Wi-Fi. I go to my laptop and I find Mark's iMac and click on and the wifi icon just moves and moves and never accepts wifi. I also turned off my firewall on both computers as I read that can cause an issue. Perhaps I will call Mac Support or maybe it has something to do with the local internet provider that does not allow this function.
