    Welcome to Mac-Forums..

What generation iPad? What version of iOS? When did it start? How long in between shut offs? If it is within 1 year of purchase have you taken it to the Apple store? If beyond 1 year, do you have the extended AppleCare?

And the answers to my other two questions?

To add to Raz0r's question, does it happen when you're doing anything in particular? Is there a pattern?

If you have a warranty and are close to an Apple Store/Authorized Service Provider, bring it in.

And to add to Van's question, does it happen with the in-built Apps or only third-party apps? If third-party, have you tried to delete the app and re-install and see if it happens? If in-built, have you tried to a factory restore to see if it persists? Also, does it happen only when you are using it?
