Hi

I am trying to help my father in law downgrade from ios 6 to ios 5.1.1 on his iPad 2. The reason is that he use the you tube and maps apps most and now obviously can't use these on the new operator system.

I have searched on here and on the web and followed all instructions (inc changing hosts file) but still getting the same error:

'This device is not eligible for the requested build'

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Jason

Yeah, give up this notion. I'm sure it's not IMPOSSIBLE, but it's not necessary.

1. There is a free YouTube app in the App Store. It's only for the iPhone at the moment, so you can buy Jasmine ($1) for using YouTube in the meantime or just wait for Google to put out the iPad version of the YouTube app. It's actually MUCH better than the one in iOS 5.

2. You can open Google Maps from the iPad's web browser and save it as a Web App (it will prompt you to do so automatically). It actually has MORE features than the Map app from iOS 5.

3. Your iPad already has the new Maps app, which works MUCH BETTER than the old app for most people living in big cities who aren't using public transportation. The new turn-by-turn is a HUGE improvement.

OK that makes a lot of sense - thanks for the help and feedback! I will let my father in law know!

Cheers for such a quick response :)
