People have been encouraged to believe that all things Apple just flow seamlessly. So, when you do an Apple update you expect it will be seamless. When it's not then it becomes, for this writer at least, a cognitively dissonant experience. Granted, it's not the end of the world, and no one is perfect. I remain a true, longstanding Apple fan. However, I'm used to believing Windows to always be a pain, not Apple. Just to highlight this further, many folks are rather disappointed with the new Ilife 11 software, saying it's a step backward from 09, and commenting on how this is surprising in that it comes from Apple. It is surprising.
Apple needs to go to lengths, as necessary, to maintain its distinctive niche in the computer and software arena, and not allow itself to weaken in that regard. Quality of product and ease of use is what we have come to expect from Apple. After all, that's why we pay a premium for Apple over Microsoft based stuff.
