Hi guys,

I've recently bought an iPod Touch but have noticed a severe lack of apps. I want to get more; I've done some research and I see that you can buy the App Store, and buy apps for your iPod/iPhone there. However, I see a lot about jailbreaking. I understand the concept of it I THINK, and understand it voids your warranty. Can someone please explain as to what jailbreaking is/what purpose it serves? Another question- is it possible to make your iPod a remote just like the iPhone; and what service does the remote function serve? Thanks a lot for the help and insight.

Jailbreaking requires one to defeat the built-in protection mechanisms that keep the phone from being hacked and as such violates both Apple's End-User Licensing Agreement and the DMCA. In other words, it's illegal - and since we don't discuss illegal activity on this forum, this thread is being closed.
