Can’t connect to wifi network, but in room others can?
I am attending a conference over a few days and I am getting a error message when I try to connection my 12” G4 aluminium Powerbook to a non-passworded wifi signal/network.

Others on Macs in same room only a few feet away can connect without problem.

I connect to my home wifi network without a problem.

Not sure why I cant connect but others can?

Are there any settings in regard to WEP or WPA etc that I can check?

    Thanks for any suggestions…

The only way to find out that information is to ask the admin for that network.

Is it possible that the others in the room are using iBooks or other non-aluminum notebooks? The Aluminum Powerbooks and MacBook Pros are well known for not havine the same kind of range as their plastic counterparts.
Liquid and computers don't mix. It might seem simple, but we see an incredible amount of people post here about spills. Keep drinks and other liquids away from your expensive electronics!

The aluminum enclosure restricts the signal to some extent.
