How to tell if connected by ethernet?

Hey guys, just converted to Mac and loving it, but the one thing I can't figure out is how to tell if I am connected to the internet wirelessly or wired. I plug into my router but i don't notice a speed difference. Shoud i be able to see the change in internet connect when i plug in?

The speed depends on the connection, whether it's Broadband or Dial-Up or Cable.....

Go to system preferences-> Network and the summary view should tell you how you are currently connected.

At normal DSL/Cable speeds both connections are fast enough.

Given that even the fastest broadband is slower than a wireless connection, you probably won't see any speed difference between the two for browsing purposes, but you would see a distinct difference when transferring big files between machines.
