Ok first things first I am new to the whole apple computer thing and I have an old (I think its a G3) dual usb Ibook. But for some reason I can't connect to my home wifi network. I can connect to neighboring wifi but I can't connect to my own. I do have a password set on my network but when it asks for it I enter it in and it just keeps trying to connect then it asks to retry and it just becomes a on going cycle. I find it weird because my Iphone connects fine and my wifes computer connects fine just not my Ibook. Any help would be greatly appreciated since my other computer crapped out the other day and is now just a paper weight.

Does your network allow 802.11 b/g? I think most ibooks didn't have 802.11n and if you set your network to n only - it could look like it is trying to connect but never will.

I have a Netgear N600 router and it is supposed to allow b/g/n to connect to it. What does the Ibook need to connect?

From what I saw iBooks only had b/g cards - but you would have to post your exact specs to be sure.

Netgear may have come with just n enabled.

Also do you have MAC filtering enabled? That could block it too. MAC is media access control not a Mac computer just to be clear.

Oh like I said before I am new to this whole Apple thing. To things how do I send you the specs you are looking for and how do I find out if this MAC is enabled or not?

The MAC address filtering is set on the n600 itself. So you would have to go through and see if you have that set on or off.

You can go to the Apple on the top right -> and click about this Mac ->More Info (should be close to this - the old iBooks that use a G4 or G3 can only upgrade to Leopard and I am working on Mountain Lion - but I believe the about this Mac hasn't changed much)

Also - the N only setting would be something to check on the Router as well. Not on the iBook.
