HI;
X-mas brought us an LG Bluray. We've connected the bluray via wireless and the MAC is recognized as a server. LG asks for Id and password when we select MAC. We've set up file sharing and tried every user and password and still cannot get through.

Any ideas ?

First it's Mac, not MAC...those are two very different things. ;)

What type of file sharing does the LG support? If it's DLNA, then you'll need to find a DLNA server to run on your Mac to make it all work.

I'd be surprised if the LG can connect to the Mac right out of the box.

You will need a DLNA server running on the Mac (or Windows or Linux box) to share your media with the LG.

I'd probably start out googling something like "LG Blu-Ray DLNA server" to see if you can get any hits as to what others are using for the best compatability with the LG.

The owner's manual suggests using Nero Home Media 4 in Windows for a DLNA server.
Reading about connecting to your home network in the LG manual would help a great deal also.
Look for the section 'Playing Content via your home network".
Unfortunately, this is not so automatic and is going to require learning some new stuff to get going.

The DLNA server we use to connect with our Samsung TV from the Mac is Serviio. Not the prettiest one available, but it was the one that worked the best.

Serviio DLNA media server

Found at least one report in my brief search noting that one with the LG also.
