    Hey
I got my LAN and ethernet connections upgraded to 1 gigabit one.
I am in an institute where internet is available through a network of hubs.

Recently all the hubs are changed from traditionally 100 Mbits ports to 1 Gbits.
There is an internal LAN connections between all the comps and laptops in the institute and we share things from clients liek DC++ , APEX DC, Strong DC and Shakespeer for macs

The problem is that even after the upgrading I am not albe to download at speeds more than 9-10 MBps from the internal LAN network.
Where the other guy (not having a mac/macbook) who have 1Gb LAN ports are able to download at speeds 30 MBps from the same user.

So can you tell is there something which is preventing my macbook pro from not going to higher speeds.
My network utility shows connection speed 1Gbits/ sec

Please tell me what to do...

First, make sure you have a new cable from the wall to your computer. If you're still using the old ethernet Cat5 cable, it can only do 100Mb. Need to get a Cat5E or Cat6 cable.

Also moved thread to more appropriate forum.
