AT&T Network Down (for a second)

I have just gotten new Wireless Internet from AT&T.

On numerous occasions since I got it, I got a message saying that the link can not be established. A few seconds later, I get another message saying that the problem is solved but that i have to restart my browser. The last time it happened I told my dad. He checked his mail without problems. So what's going on here? Is something wrong with my computer? Does this normally happen with AT&T?

And what is it you mean by you got new wireless internet? At your house?

Would assume this would be coming into your house by either DSL via the phone line, cable or fiber. They're into all three now. This would then be connected to a modem they provided with wireless capability?

Or do you have a router attached to the modem?

What are the devices, brand and model #? What encryption is the wireless using, WEP, WPA2?

How far from the modem/router are you?

(Also, have never seen any issue related to Airport make a request to restart your browser.)

Yes. At my house. DSL via phone line. 2WIRE Wireless Gateway. WEP64 encryption. I'm just upstairs from the router in my dad's office. I'd say 4o feet or less.

Wireless reception in a computer located upstairs from the router typically does not do very well. Usually better to put the router upstairs if possible.

Also, should change to WPA2 encryption. WEP can be broken quite easily nowadays. WPA2 also seems to just work better on newer systems.

Actually it works consistently well throughout my house. I just don't understand why it's going down like that. We are planning to change the encryption.
