Can you transfer an existing email contact list to the iPhoto contact file? If not, how can email contacts be added to iPhoto contact list one at a time?. Thank-you

Found out that the iphoto will remember the contact once used and when you use the same contact again you just type the first couple of letters and it will fill in the blanks....

That's not iPhoto doing that. That's OS X.
