Hello all, so i have a rant and a question.
I take photos of my nephew daily or at least try to. i have a folder names after him and thats where i store all his photos. BUT every time i empty my SD Card and try to put transfer the pictures it says "dsc....001/2/3/etc" already exists. i don't want to replace the photos i just want to be able to store all photos there. what should i do or way am i doing wrong??????

PLEASE HELP ME!!

That has something to do with your camera. It seems that when you empty your SD card your camera starts naming image files from the beginning again. For-instance, images are called IMG-0001.jpg, IMG-0002.jpg, ... Now, when you copy those to your HDD and empty the SD card, your camera starts naming them IMG-0001.jpg, ... again. When you copy those into your image folder, they obviously exist.

Doesn't seem to be a Mac problem at all since you are not even saying what hardware you are using.

In case you are using a Mac - just use iPhoto to import your images. It won't overwrite images with the same name on import and you can create events of your images and combine them into one. That way you have one folder/event for images of your nephew...

I had the same problem with my camera. Someone told me a good way around it though. All you need to do is to leave one image in your camera / on your card when you have finished uploading - erase the rest - and then the next set of photos that you take will start at the next available number instead of starting from the first number again and again.
