Hello everyone.
My basic question, to save everyone time: Is there an integrated font-management solution, better yet, a server-based way of managing fonts, so that everyone can access the same fonts?
I'm in charge of retail advertising production for a regional newspaper.
We're using Multi-Ad Creator to generate the majority of our ads, but some are using Quark 6 or 7 (one of which has issues with large numbers of fonts), or an older version of Creator and others are using various incarnations In-Design or Photoshop to geneerate ads.
The ads are then processed through a prefining software before going to our Computer-To-Plate software.
In addition, we often receive ads submitted from clients that contain fonts that we do not have.
To further tangle things, not everyone within our company has the same fonts or font families.
So when we attempt to edit an ad created by someone else, we will often have to replace fonts...resulting in the ad looking either slightly or totally different, which means that it needs to be re-proofed, which means we loose time. This is a best case. In the worst case it causes our software to crash.
It's cost us time, money, and effort.
I'm a PC guy at heart. I'm used to having a huge folder of fonts...which can be synchronized with every computer in the network. Can we do the same thing on a Mac?
