I have an iMac that i just bought recently and i'm trying to install Windows Vista 64-bit onto it with Boot Camp. Everything works well with that, until I try to insert the Mac disk. It says something like "Windows Vista 64-bit isn't supported on this computer model". So, I have Windows Vista on the iMac, but with no wireless network device or browser. Is there anyway around this? Anything I can do? I tried installing the Boot Camp 2.1, but that did nothing. Again, this is the iMac, as in the desktop, NOT a Mac laptop.

Boot Camp only supports 64-bit Windows on the Mac Pros and select Macbook Pro models. You'll need some sort of workaround to get it working on the iMac but officially it doesn't work "out of the box," so to speak.
How does it work with the 64bit windows? Just curious. I only have the 64bit vista my PC came with, and don't want to go out and buy a 32bit version. I also have an upgrade for windows 7 64.
my situation is i have a MBP running VMware Fusion 2. I want to put on my vista64 then upgrade it to Win7-64. Is that going to work?
why not just install windows 7? Even if its an upgrade you can do a clean install. Search for the workaround where you just basically install windows 7 over windows 7 with an upgrade disc.
Install windows 7 - do not put in your serial
once installed - install windows 7 over your installation as a clean install or upgrade (does not matter) this time put in your serial.

you should be good to go now.
I tried that. It wouldn't finish installing. Say "no previous versions of windows found"

But aren't you going to get Windows 7 64-bit?
I don't understand why it's not supported on iMacs. My MBP is more than a year old and it runs the 64-bit kernel of SL just fine.

since it's an upgrade, i have to install windows vista 64 first. (this copy of win7-64 will only upgrade Vista64 installed)
I thought i'd pop in on this thread to see if it would be alright to run a 64bit version on my Macbook Pro. Do Macs do okay with the 64bit versions of windows? is it being used? Should is stick with 32bit?
