I apologise in advance if there is the wrong area for this thread. I thought of putting it in the music/audio section but decided since it was a Windows question it was better here.
I've spent the last week or so searching these and other forums for ways to use my 3.5mm jack headset on my iMac AND have 5.1 surround sound (although not necessarily at the same time). I have since concluded that this near impossible on Mac OS. That's fine, I can manage.
However, I am quite into gaming and have installed XP using Bootcamp on my brand new iMac. That is all working fine, but I can't get my mic to work at all, even be recognised by Windows. So I have two questions:
1. How can I turn off the built-in mic in Windows?
2. If I purchase the
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Go! USB Sound Card, will it work in Windows using Bootcamp? I'm fairly certain it's restrictions are only OS related and not hardware related. Am I correct in these assumptions?
Thanks guys, I appreciate any advice on this. I'm quite an advanced Windows user usually, but this is the first time I have used it on Mac hardware. And I'm in no way a hardware expert.
Cheers,
Ted
