Hello, I am getting making a page with music for the first time via dreamweaver.
What is the best format to convert an .mp3 file to for play on my site. I'd say I'm more concerned with the speed with which it loads than the quality of the song.
It is a pop sort of song.

At a guess I'd say that mp3 is fine but try encoding it in iTunes using a lower kbps setting ... by doing that you can reduce the file size to a manageable loading time for most.

I'm glad I joined in here..We are getting ready to launch our new website. We have many mp3 audio files that are going to need to be used with flash on the new site. Any suggestions as to what there is out there for our MAc to use to convert from .mp3 to .flv?

Flash should be the obvious choice.

Flash players handle MP3 - no conversion needed.

If you're daring... you can use Scriptaculous to play audio right in the browser with no plugins (and be sure to look in the credits of sounds.js )
