    Anybody know a way of limiting the number of characters in a textarea short of making an error page with php?
    I'm in your forums, writing sentences in a grammatically acceptable manner.

    Well you could just take let's say the first 50 characters by doing something like this:

    $newString = substr($_POST['textarea'], 0, 50);

    But if you want it to be interactive then I would use javascript.
