Hi,

Intel Imac
PHP 4.1.1
Apache 1.3.33
PHPMyAdmnin 2.8.0.3

I need help! I bought a Intel Imac the other day and am trying to set up MySQL. Please be gentle, I don't know much mac lingo or terminal stuff.

I have succesfully setup a WAMP system several times.

I've downloaded mysql-standard-5.0.19-osx10.4-i686.dmg, opened it, opened the mysql-standard-5.0.19-osx10.4-i686.pkg and installed without any problems.

I also installed the MYSQL.prefpane and MySQLStartupitem.pkg

MySQL is running.

when I open phpmyadmin in my browser, I get:

Error
MySQL said: Documentation
#2002 - The server is not responding (or the local MySQL server's socket is not correctly configured)

Now, on a windows system i'd edit config files, but I have no idea where they are on the mac, and I don't even know if this is the problem...

Also, when I try to open the 'data' folder in usr/local/mysql/ I get an error saying that I don't have permission! But it's my computer, and im the only user! Wouldn't I have admin rights???

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jim.
