I hope this is the right forum..Anyway, here is my query..
What’s the best way to take photos in the web? I have been taking them with flood lamps and a digital camera. Then I put the images on my desktop and edit them with Photoshop.
Is there a way to hook up a camera to my computer and view the image on my monitor before snapping the photo? Or, for my purpose, would I be better off with a video camera?

You are already doing it the "best way" (My opinion). Even if you hook your camera up to the computer, the shutter doesn't open until you click, so you could not preview before you click.
With a video camera you could preview and capture frames and it may be a little quicker than your still camera, but the quality may or may not be as good as your still camera's.
I would stick with the still camera, on a tripod.
