i am trying to build my own website and would like a little video/animation intro when the website is first open.

i know how to make the animation/video but i don't know how to place it in the website so that it starts and stop on its own and once finishes leaves the website with the button and links active.

i am building my website in dreamweaver

any hints or tips?

Greetings

If you have no joy here, you might try Adobe Forums: Forum: Dreamweaver

It's a good place to call by.

With animation, Flash is probably your best bet to use... It will then talk to Dreamweaver.
