Im 5th on the first page of around 1 million results (at time of posting at least)..

I guess this comes down to SEO, anyone employed any techniques in design to boost results?

My next SEO endeavour is, I want to try to get ranked for Essex Based Web Design or something.

You can register your site through google to get a sitemap index and put that on your server.

The <title> tag does it all. Search engines pull a lot of information from what the title tag contains. It also doesn't hurt to put in a <meta> tag with some keywords.
