So, my dad is getting a tablet PC. He said if I wanted to, I could give him my mac and he would give me the tablet PC.

I've never really used windows, so I dont know what its like. I do really like mac os x, but I was wondering if there's any advantage to having mac os x over vista or vice versa. I'm mainly using this for school use, so a screen you can write on would be great for taking notes and such.

Also, is there a mac tablet available?

The only Mac tablet is a modded Macbook by Axiotron called "modbook".

It's a bit pricey though.

I'd say OS X vs. Vista is a matter of personal preference. If you've never used Vista before, I'd try it on your MBP before you make a decision.

Both OS's have their merits, but I'd guess the majority of users here would prefer OS X over Vista.

If you are already used to using a Mac, by no means would I burden myself with switching to Windows (good gawd... that's just an inconceivable act!). Do you REALLY want to dive head-first into an OS reknown for its vulnerability to viruses, spyware-infestation, and general bugginess? As a switcher who long was "comfortable" using Windows and dealing with its issues, I for one won't ever switch back.

As a long-term windows user (Windows 3.0, 3.11, 95, 98, ME, NT, 2K, XP, 2k3, and Vista), I can give you one bit of advice: Keep the Mac. Ignore the pretty gadget and keep your solid and reliable MBP.

Good luck,
Perry

ask to have a play on his tablet PC, chances are you will stick to the mac

Why is he buying a tablet PC when he wants your mac, he should get his own

He doesn't "want" my mac. He's letting me choose if I want the tablet or keep my mac.

When he gets it, I guess I"ll try it out and all. I'll make my decision then I guess.
