how to setup Time machine ?

I try to setup time machine but i cant select any Drives or partitions.... the list is empty. How do I create a drive or partition? I have a 160gb black macbook.

You can only use secondary or external drives for Time Machine. Also, the drive has to be formatted as HFS+. So if you have a secondary or external hard drive, format it as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and then you should see it in Time Machine.

ic ic, how much space would you recommend if i was to buy an external hard drive.

Since you have a 160GB hard drive, I'd say go for at least 250GB. But more is better.
