can't add printer to printer list

I can't add my brand new PH printer to the printer list because the 'drivers are not installed' despite the fact that I have installed the CD and I am printing an alignment sheet right now. whats the deal?

is this a common thing?

how do i fix it?

Have a HP DJ 5550 with a JetDirect 170X print server. I also have installed the CD and can print the test page and the alignment page from within the HP utility. If I connect it via USB it prints fine, but when I try to connect to it through IP printing, I don't ever see the 5550 drivers in the list.

try getting updated drivers - I did and now it works peachy-like
