i just had a look at iChat for the first time. I dont have an account so i clicked create a .mac account and it asked me to pay!

Does this mean that to be able to use iChat you have to pay?

You can use iChat with .Mac or AIM. To use .Mac you have to pay.

instead of ichat i recomend downloading a multi protocol chat client called Adium... it works with aim and other clients!!!

to make ichat mor funtional and customizable try downloading the chax plug in... just google it... it enables tabed chats, and contact list font changes and stuff
