Neither. Macs come formatted in HFS+, which is Apples/OSX drive format.

This ain't Windows, so stop thinking like it.

And it's NTFS, not NTSF. You really don't need to worry about your filesystem type.

I judge you when you use poor grammar.

Hold on, guys. It DOES matter if you are partitioning the drive for Boot Camp or installing a virtual machine, and a lot of people are doing this.

NTFS is a better file structure for Windows, and approaches HFS+ features. But you need to realize that OS X can read NTFS, but cannot write to that format. le cheese, check other forums for the pros and cons on that decision.

Neo, he isn't asking about Boot Camp, he's asking about the default OS X file system. So there's really no decision to be made at this moment.

Now if he were installing Windows via Boot Camp, then yes, we would recommend he go with FAT32 to allow for read/write capability.

Simple as this:

HSF+ = OS X only
NTFS = Windows only
FAT32 = Both

Yep, I was reading into the question. Why else would he care what his file system was? I was trying to anticipate his motive.

Let's make it not so simple:
HSF+ = great file system, OS X only
NTFS = great file system, Windows read and write, OS X read only
FAT32 = not so great file system, both read and write

Uh, because this is the switchers forum and he is a n00b coming from Windows. The possibility exists that he simply may not know any better.
