Is there anyway to stay connected to the internet in sleep mode so it doesn't disconnect you every time you walk away from your computer??

I'm not sure what you mean, or if your on wifi. If you're on wifi and having trouble reconnecting after sleeping that may be related to having your SSID hidden on some models of routers. If you mean you want to upload or download from the internet while sleeping then I don't know if that's possible. Given all that you might need to adjust your sleep settings.
