So whenever I try and open a word file Parallals is launched and it opens the file in Word for Windows. Now I know I can right click and open it with Word 2004 (for mac) and that If i pick other I can select always open with... However always open with only applies to that file. What do I have to do so all .doc files automatically open in Word 2004 (for mac)?

thanks!

Right click it and select, "Get info". On the section that says "Open with" choose Word 2004 for Mac, and then click on the button that says "Change All..."

Now all .doc files on your mac will open with Word 2004

Thanks, one more issue. When someone sends me a file made in Word 2007 (for windows) I can't open it in Word 2004. I have to open it in the windows version of word via parallels. Is there a patch or something so I can open it in Word 2004?

The person using office 07 must save as a 98 compatible file. You cannot open a 07 file without 07. Windows is fantastic
