Hi,
I am trying to find a program or way that I can search the network my computer is hooked up to. I think I need to download a program.. any suggestions?

Can you elaborate on what you want to search for? Do you want to look for shared printers? Computer files? Music on other computers? Apple Remote Desktop lets you search other computers on your network with Spotlight:
