OmniOutliner was pre installed on my MacBookPro, I've not used it and don't think I ever will. Therefore shall I send it to the Trash Or is it needed by other Apps?

Cheers

I'd imagine it can be trashed, I doubt anything else relies on it. Try it and see, you can always restore it.

(I can't stop laughing at your avatar.)

I judge you when you use poor grammar.

Restore it? How?

And I have the same question. What's it for? I've run it several times but I still can figure what's it for.

OmniOutliner is a shareware application by the Omni Group. It's an app for organizing and structuring ideas - essentially an application for making very advanced lists, or taking notes. Many podcasters use it for structuring a show, and many students use it for making concise overviews of their study notes.

Macs come with quite a bit of 3rd party shareware these days - which sort of bugs me, frankly speaking. It's not Apple-related so it's safe to remove. Virtually no applciation int eh applications folder is dependent on other apps - they're mostly self contained.

By restoring, knightlie meant that if you move the app to the trash can and don't delete it, you can always drag it back out of the trash can.

knightlie ment that you can restore items using your install discs and an app called pacifier which can extract files from a .pkg file

OmniOutliner is not shareware...it's a commercial application, and Apple bundles the full, licensed version.

Compare this with the iWork and MS Office "trials."

Apple changes their software bundle regularly, OmniOutliner is no longer included, I suspect.

(why was this ancient thread resurrected?)
