OmniOutliner is a shareware application by the Omni Group. It's an app for organizing and structuring ideas - essentially an application for making very advanced lists, or taking notes. Many podcasters use it for structuring a show, and many students use it for making concise overviews of their study notes.
Macs come with quite a bit of 3rd party shareware these days - which sort of bugs me, frankly speaking. It's not Apple-related so it's safe to remove. Virtually no applciation int eh applications folder is dependent on other apps - they're mostly self contained. By restoring, knightlie meant that if you move the app to the trash can and don't delete it, you can always drag it back out of the trash can. Apple changes their software bundle regularly, OmniOutliner is no longer included, I suspect.
